EYFS (Early Years and Foundation Stage)

Our Learning Environment

We are proud of our Nursery and all of the learning areas we have to offer our children.

Our children are able to explore and enjoy our compact outdoor area, with gardening, sand building and a mud kitchen (don't worry, we have aprons!) Inside you can find a make believe play area, including a kitchen set up, a fake shop, and wardrobe full of costumes. You will also see that we have a special area for your children to sit and read. Our library is constantly being updated with donations from organisations and parents, so there will be plenty of choices of books for our staff to read with your children.

We ensure that all of our play areas are kept safe and clean. The toys and resources provided are all in line with what we teach in the EYFS curriculum and latest research in child development.

We have toilets and changing facilities on site.

Learning Resources

We want to share what we are teaching your child with you. It takes a community to help raise a child well, and we believe that in working with our parents and carers we can ensure that each child is getting the opportunities they deserve to consolidate their learning and take it with them as they grow up.

All new learning resources will be shared with you each week for you to use with your young ones over the weekends. You can also find tip sheets and learning resources here on our for inspiration.

Key Stage 1

Our Learning Environment

We equip each of our classrooms with the resources and technology our teachers need to ensure that your children are getting the most of their education with us. We believe that sensory learning and exploration is key to creating those long lasting memories, and helps consolidate the day's knowledge.

Every classroom is fitted with an interactive whiteboard. We know that some of our children will be kinetic learners, they understand by doing, therefore we want to involved our pupils as much as we can in their lessons, by getting them

involved in writing on the board and using learning resources digitally. The Academy does have a provision of laptops per class, typically one per student for classes of 25, however we encourage group learning through the interactive board.

Having a reading corner in each of our classrooms, and of course a fully equipped library, is important to us. Nothing can spark the imagination and creativity like getting lost in the world of literature and we want our young people to feel enthused by the possibilities of reading. We try to make these areas open and comfortable for our pupils.

In our outside play area we have a variety of set ups designed to harbour creative playtimes. This includes a jungle gym and pirate ship structure.

Our school hall is used for assemblies, drama and indoor physical education. We have a fully retractable climbing frame and varied gym equipment to help our pupils build core strength and maintain flexibility. We have a staged area for assemblies and drama in the hall which pupils are allowed to make use of during drama lessons. Our young people deserve to shine and having that chance to build confidence on the stage will set them up with the public speaking skills that will see them through secondary education.
